Lunch at The Balmoral

Clans and Cosmetics in the Capital

A bright and sunny October saw 120 employees fly from France to Edinburgh for a glamorous incentive.
Staying at the Balmoral Hotel, the cosmetic company blended meetings with clan competitions, a treasure hunt on the Royal Mile, and a visit to the Scottish Borders.

Splitting into 12 clans really brought a sense of fun and healthy competition to every day. To bolster this team spirit and identity, each clan was given scarves in a different tartan at their first lunch. We think it looked rather smart!

After lunch it was time for the games to begin. Clans nominated a leader to take to the stage for some friendly local challenges. The champion won their team extra time in the treasure hunt which followed. Already it was becoming clear that this group was not one to take competition lightly!

When the last bottle dropped the clans set out toward the Castle. From there they embarked on a series of challenges, from history questions to group photos to trying some of Scotland’s gastronomic delicacies…Once back at the hotel, they could claim their reward. That evening the winning clan was announced at a beautiful dinner in the New Town, with stunning views of the Georgian rooftops and Edinburgh Castle.

The next morning was full of productive meetings before the group were walked to a historic venue for lunch by the castle. The sun was still shining as their three coaches departed for the borders. Once there, the group enjoyed a visit to Abbotsford House (The home of Sir Walter Scott), and a tour of Lochcarron Weavers. Tea and scones kept everyone fed and watered until their farewell dinner at the Hotel that night. Everything knitted together perfectly!

The farewell dinner was the perfect end to a clan-tastic incentive. With a whisky tasting, bagpiper, haggis ceremony, and highland dancers, there was no doubt that guests had experienced all that Scotland had to offer. Haste ye back!
